This topic provides a brief guide to the PEN3D's Zoom Window Popup Menu. Scroll down for detailed descriptions.

The Popup Menu can be made visible by right-clicking in the zoom window.

Deselect

This deselect's the objects in the zoom window.  The keyboard shortcut is the Esc key.

Cut, Copy, Paste

This is the normal cut, copy and paste functions.

Duplicate ...

This option will duplicate an object

Duplicate options dialog box

Firstly one or more objects need to be selected in the zoom window.

Then decide whether the copy of the object needs to be parallel or on a rectangular grid array.

Select parallel if it is necessary to offset a new object a exact distance from the first object.  For instance it may be desirable to locate a noise barrier exactly 10 m from the center line of the road.

Select array if the objects are to be spaced evenly over the work area.  For instance to insert multiple calculation boxes on a regular grid.

Finally, select the offset distance and the number of duplicates.

Convert to ...

This option permits the selected object(s) to be converted from one object type to another.

Convert to dialog box

The noise barrier in the example above is converted to a Road (CoRTN) object by selecting Road and pressing OK.  The user is requested to enter the road details and the object is converted.

Clip Extend

This option permits two objects to be clipped or extended so they neatly join.

Select two object then the clip Extend.  The program works out the various trim or extend options and the user selects the appropriate option.

In this case No was selected so the other alternative was selected.

Bench display order

The order in which benches are retained in the file dictate the finished ground form of the DTM.  These options manipulate the bench order in the file.

clip0069

Bench ordering options

Sort descending height orders all the benches from high to low.  This option would typically if you were developing a DTM for an open-cut mine.

Sort increasing height orders all the benches from low to high.  This option would typically if you were developing a DTM for a spoil heap.

Send to back places the selected bench object to the back.  All other benches will take precedence over that object.  The display changes to provide visual feedback.

Bring to front places the selected bench object to the top.  This object takes precedence over all other benches.  The display changes to provide visual feedback.

Reset bench colors sorts all the bench colors into a uniform color system.  The display changes to provide visual feedback.

Select Attached

This option speeds up selection of a continuous contour.  It is also useful to order the objects within the DTM.  For instance sometimes when importing objects from AutoCAD joined objects are not sequential, particularly roads.  Select the first road object then select attached.  Now copy and delete the objects then paste the objects back into the file.  Now the road object is reordered sequentially.

Select attached calculation boxes

This option speeds up the selection of calculation boxes.  Calculation boxes may be attached at one of four corners rather than two.  Although calculation boxes may be selected with the Select attached option it is only a linear search rather than an area search.

Rename ...

This option permits objects having names to be renamed and given a sequential numerical extension.  This is useful to quickly rename road segments, or receptors with a uniform name or numbering system.  The number are ordered in the same order as they are selected.
