This topic provides a brief guide to the components of PEN3D's user interface. Click on the text balloons or scroll down for detailed descriptions.

 

One file may be edited at any one time in PEN3D and displayed in any number of multiple views.

Program Toolbars

 

The Program Toolbars provide quick access to the most frequently-used functions. These functions are common for all windows in the program.  Just position the mouse over a tool and wait for a second to display a brief text describing what it is for. For a more detailed description right-click on a tool and select What's This?

 

Zoom Window Toolbars

 

The Zoom Window Toolbars provide quick access to the most frequently-used functions in the zoom window. These are the digitising and view manipulation functions.  Just position the mouse over a tool and wait for a second to display a brief text describing what it is for. For a more detailed description right-click on a tool and select What's This?

 

Zoom Window

 

The Zoom Window is the most important graphical interface of the program.  This window permits the user to modify and display the data graphically.  Some additional functions are accessible by the right click.  To determine the use of a function just position the mouse over a tool and wait for a second to display a brief text describing what it is for. For a more detailed description right-click on a tool and select What's This?

 

Property Pane

 

The Property Pane provides quick access to the information about the currently selected object(s) in the zoom window.

 

Edit Window

 

The Edit Window provide quick access to the objects in the data file in a spreadsheet style interface. The data may be edited copied and pasted.

 

Edit Window Filters

 

The Edit Window Filters ensures that only one type of object is displayed in the edit window. Just position the mouse over a button and wait for a second to display a brief text describing what it is for. For a more detailed description right-click on a tool and select What's This?
