Q  What size model can be developed in PEN3D

A   PEN3D does not have and limits other than those of the computer.  Models in excess of 750,000 elements have been developed.  However only a very fast computer, ram, hard drive and network would be suitable for models of this size.  Most normal models are between 20,000 elements and 100,000 elements.  Typical run times are short and the files are easy to manipulated.

Q  What size BMP  should be used in PEN3D

A   The answer to this is "It depends".  Generally try to keep the maximum size of BMP's to about 2 MB and jpg's to 1 MB.  However if your computer has large amounts of RAM then much larger map files can be used.

Q  Are the calculations facade corrected in PEN3D

A   In PEN3D presents facade corrected results for the CoRTN model.  For the Environmental model the results  are free field.  This applies to both the Point and Batch calculations.

Q  What is the number displayed in the opening flash screen of PEN3D

A   This number is a processor speed test.  The higher the number the faster the processor floating point unit.  While not directly equivalent it gives a fair indication of how fast calculations will be carried out in PEN.  It has been "tuned" to provide a result of 28 for a 2.8 GHz Zeon processor.  Testing on various current desktop computers has provided results in excess of 50 and as low as 5. Remember that if your processor has hyper-threaded then batching two models at the same time would be faster than running all the models sequentially.
