This option opens the Import window of PEN3D. Selecting this option permits PEN data fields and DXF files to be imported into PEN3D.

The Import Window:

Data File

Choose this first to select the data file to be imported

 

DXF File Import

 

If a DXF file is opened then PEN3D analyses that file for objects that can be converted to PEN3D.

Layer Descriptions

 

 

All Layers

Check box to select the import of all layers in the DXF file

Preview the objects in the zoom window.  Use this in conjunction with the zoom buttonclip0175 which zooms on the import extent (rather than the usual data file extent).  The size of the converted data file is displayed along the bottom of the window.

Transverse

These are methods used to reduce the size of the data import.  The import process will ignore all data points within the distance specified in the transverse direction in meters

Vertical

These are methods used to reduce the size of the data import.  The import process will ignore all data points within the distance specified in the vertical direction in meters

All

Will import objects over the entire extent of the map

Window

Will import objects over the extent shown in the display on the right side of the window

Check for duplicates

Will check to ensure the object does not exist prior to importing.  This can significantly extend processing/import times

Import

Import the selected objects into the DTM.

 

After Import pressed the object type is requested.

Certain object types will request additional data through familiar dialog boxes, i.e. Roads will open the Road Entry dialog box.
