This topic provides a brief guide to the PEN3D's Zoom Window Display Options dialog window. Scroll down for detailed descriptions.

 

Main program window menu selection:

Select Display Options... to open the Display Options Dialog.  All objects in the DTM are inspected and entered into the appropriate tabbed page of the dialog box.  The selected contouring settings are also contained in this dialog.  All windows operations are suspended until the Display Options dialog window is closed.

 

 

Display Options Dialog Window:

Ground Levels

 

This list box contains all ground elevations (in meters) contained in the DTM.  The elevations are sorted by increasing height.  The default setting is to display (Print All) ground heights.  Ground heights appear as a green line on the zoom window.  Dark green for lines of constant height and light green for lines of varying height. 

 

If required only lines of a selected height can be displayed.  Select radio button selected and then highlight the ground elevations to be displayed.  clip0010

 

 

 

 

To print the height of the ground contour select ....

This is desirable where there is a dark background or a dark project map in the zoom display window.

Benches

 

This list box contains all ground elevations of benches (in meters) contained in the DTM.  The elevations are sorted by increasing height.  The default setting is to display (Print All) bench ground heights.  Bench ground heights appear as a shaded area on the Zoom Window.  The color is selected by the user.  The program defaults to various pastel greens blues and similar.  Each height being issued with a unique color. 

 

The same display options for Ground Levels are available for Benches.

 

Ground Cover

 

This list box contains all ground cover zones contained in the DTM.    Ground Cover appear as a red dashed line on the Zoom Window. 

 

In the CoRTN model two types of ground is displayed (Hard and Soft).

 

In the Environmental Model there are many more ground types such as Asphalt,  Rough Grass etc, as well as the tree zones.

 

Ground Cover defines an area of the DTM that has the characteristics selected.  Ground Cover should comprise a closed loop and two areas should not intersect/cross.  It is acceptable for one area to be fully within the area of the second.

 

The same display options for Ground Cover are available for Benches.

 

Barriers

 

This list box contains all heights of noise barriers (in meters) contained in the DTM.  The heights are sorted by increasing height.  This also displays the reflective base object.  The default setting is to display (Print All) barrier heights.  Barrier heights appear as a black or blue dashed line on the Zoom Window.   The reflective base object is a wide purple line on the Zoom Window.  The reflective base object is a CoRTN only object.

 

The black dashed lines are for noise barriers having a height specified relative to the local ground level.  The blue dashed lines are for noise barriers having an absolute height in meters.

 

The same display options for Ground Levels are available for Barrier Heights.

 

Noise Sources

 

This list box contains all Noise Sources (by Name) contained in the DTM.  The Noise Sources are identified by the type (Road:, Source Code (Point, Line), and Rail), and  are sorted alphabetically.  The default setting is to display (Print All) noise sources.  Noise sources appear as a

an aquamarine cross with circle for Environmental point noise sources;
a dark blue solid line for Environmental line noise sources;
a light blue solid blue line with border for Environmental Rail noise sources, and;
dark blue solid line with terminating arrows and border for CoRTN Road noise sources.

 

If required only noise sources of a selected name can be displayed.  Select radio button Selected and then highlight the sources to be displayed.

Receivers

 

This list box contains all receivers (by Name) and x and y coordinates contained in the DTM.  The receivers list also includes an entry for calculation boxes.  The Receivers are sorted alphabetically.  The default setting is to display (Print All) noise sources.  Noise sources appear as a

an dark red cross with circle for point receivers, and;
a four sided red object with small red crosses for calculation zones (Calculation boxes).

 

The same display options for Noise Sources are available for Receivers.

 

Contours & Other

 

These pages have a number of Options and are discussed in the next section.

 

Closing the Display Options

 

On closing the Display Options dialog the program carries out the following steps:

1.It requests to save the contouring setup to the initialisation file.  This permits the user to reuse these setting on subsequent files.  Selected YES and the data is saved to the initialisation file.  Select no and the data is retained locally only;
2.It creates a list containing all the display changes requested.  The list is also reloaded next time the display Option dialog is opened.
3.It redraws all zoom window and zoom window derivatives with the new display format.
